the profile of tiankeng
banyuedong cave
banyuedong cave is a cave chamber 70m in diameter and 80m high. at mid-day on sunny days a 113 meter-high beam of sunlight enters the chamber from above. the evolution of tiankeng can be understood by observing the ceiling structure at the top of the chamber and collapsed rocks at the bottom. light oriented phytokarst stalactites can also be observed in banyuedong. deposition of calcium carbonate was accelerated when plants released carbon dioxide through their biological processes, causing the creation of phytokarst formations such as pinnacles and light-oriented speleothems.

chuandong cave
chuandong cave provides the most convenient way to enter any tiankeng in the geopark. its entrance elevation is 1161m and the cave is 202m long, 20~28m wide and 10~24m high, with many large-scale stalagmites and flowstone deposits.
xiongjia xidong cave and xiongjia dongdong cave
xiongjia xidong and xiongjia dongdong were parts of the early passages of feimaodong underground river cave system, and were separated into two parts by down-cutting erosion. xiongjia xidong is at 1278m asl at the entrance, 1360m long, 1~80m wide, 2~35m high and 158m deep. it features flowstone and stalagmites inside, and two cave chambers with areas of 3,500 square meters and 6,000 square meters respectively. a peculiar feature is a wooden trough which was once used to collect dripping water in the dry season and gradually became surrounded by deposited calcium carbonate and flowstone; it is a good example of modern deposition of speleothems.
xiongjia dongdong is at 1207m asl at the entrance, 1770m long, 5~46m wide, 3~30m high and 95m in depth. xiongjia dongdong has a single passage featuring flowstone and clay at the bottom, and big stalagmites throughout cave, in particular in the central part of the cave where a maze chamber with an area of 1209 square meters formed containing many stalagmites. 200m beyond the chamber is a remarkable 450m-long series of rimstone dams.
