Trainees of the International Karst Training Course recently took a visit to Leye-Fengshan geopark

From September 29th to October 2nd, 2015, trainees of the International Training Course of Karst Landscape, Geopark, Natural Heritage, Environment Geology Mapping and Data Mining, which was organized by the Institute of Karst Geology,Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and the International Research Center on Karst (IRCK) under the auspices of UNESCO, took a field work in Leye-Fengshan Global Geopark.

During the investigation, the trainees visited the famous Dashiwei Tiankengs, Sanmenhai karst windows, Mafeng Cave, Chuandong Tiankeng, Mengli Natural Bridge, Yuanyang Spring and etc., and listened carefully to the professor’s introduction about the geosites. Except for the Dashiwei Tiankeng which made them feel so shocked, they also went to the Huomai Eco-village and Meijia Farmhouse Inn in the geopark and gave highly praise of the geopark’s efforts in promoting the sustainable development of local economy.

With the aim of enhancing research cooperation and academic exchange, and sharing successful experience in Karst scientific research, this international course welcomed about 50 trainees from 20 countries including China, Cambodia, Tailand, America and Spain, and 13 of them were from
B&R countries.
